How do I get paint on the brush?

Drag the brush through a pigment in the base of the tin. To mix a color, drag it through two pigments, or work them together in the mixing tray, then paint in the lid.

Why did my brush stop painting?

It ran out of paint. A brush carries only so much, and strokes get drier and streakier as it empties. Dip it again to keep going, or tap the drop button to clean it before picking up a new color.

What’s the difference between oil and gouache?

Oil stays wet and glossy, so strokes drag into the paint beneath them. Gouache is matte and blends less, so colors sit side by side.

Can I use Apple Pencil?

Yes. Press harder for a heavier stroke. Double-tap the Pencil to switch to the rag or back to your last brush, depending on your Pencil settings.

How do I zoom in on the canvas?

Pinch with two fingers to zoom, and drag with two fingers to move around. One finger always paints.

Where are my paintings?

AltoPaint saves as you paint. Open the gallery to see every painting, pick one up where you left off, or start a new one.

Can I share a painting?

Yes. Use the share button to send the painting as an image anywhere the share sheet can.
